Are We Just Advanced Robots

Are we all as humans, only advanced robots, in a way?

We train algorithms to learn our language and automate our tasks. But are we not simply re-inventing the wheel? Is it impossible that once upon a time, we ourselves were once robots, with cold objectivity, and steadfast goals and objectives? How is this possible?

Our habits and behaviour represent our innate need for “automation”. Our brains get tired of repetitive tasks and schedules day in and day out, and for a good reason. Just like the processor in a computer can impact on the energy demand of the computer, so our brain action can determine our energy levels. To minimize our demand for energy, we need to automate our processes, and thus, develop habits and behaviour. Thus, our brains are pre-wired for automation.

Eventually, our habits and behaviour lead to outcomes that dictate our lives and relationships. Our missed opportunities and losses, gains and successes, all seeming random, but unaware, dictated by our thinking neurons. A ghost in the machine perhaps? Not likely, for at ground zero, it smears of a coordinated ensemble to our to living and interactions. Our next moves seem already premeditated, our contacts predetermined, relationships preselected, just hidden within the numbers.

No wonder computers and neural networks are able to find a pattern in the numbers. No wonder, the objective predictive nature of math, can always determine a hidden gem in the frequencies. Are we in some way, already automated without knowing so? Perhaps we are simply reinventing the wheel, by building new robots, who perhaps were our ancestors.
